When this template fits
Who it is for
For companies between roughly 30 and 500 staff where HR, the department and IT have to work together on a new hire but no written process exists. In smaller organisations one person usually handles everything, so modelling pays off from the second hire per quarter onwards.
Where it typically stalls
At two handovers. First between signing the contract and raising the equipment request, because nobody defined who triggers it. Second between that request and IT, because the request arrives incomplete and the follow-up costs days. The template puts a checkpoint at both.
What it connects to
Upstream is recruitment, which ends with the signed contract. Downstream are training and development. At the other end of the employment relationship sits offboarding, which revokes the same access again.
Relation to standards
Granting access and documenting its return on exit touch access control requirements. For a quality management system under ISO 9001 it also matters that responsibilities are named per step. The template offers both as a proposal, not as evidence.
Part of these process maps
A single process says little about where it sits in the company. These maps show it among its neighbours.
- ServicesThe process landscape of a service company, from enquiry through delivery to invoicing.
- RetailThe process landscape of a retailer, from assortment through logistics to returns.
- Manufacturing and engineeringThe full process landscape of a mid-sized manufacturer, from first enquiry to spare part.
- InsuranceThe process landscape of an insurer, from application through policy to the reported claim.
What people ask first
Can the template be imported into another tool?
Yes. The file is BPMN 2.0 XML and imports into any BPMS that supports the standard.
How far will this differ from our own process?
There is no way to say in advance, because no two companies work alike. It is a starting point you adapt, not a prescription.
May I hand the template out in training sessions?
Yes. All templates are published under CC BY 4.0, so you may print, share and teach with them as long as you credit Procevia as the source.
