When this template fits
Who it is for
For every company beyond a handful of staff. Offboarding is neglected almost everywhere because nobody enjoys it, and that is exactly why access stays open.
Where it typically stalls
At revoking access. HR knows about the exit, IT often only days later or not at all. Accounts stay active, sometimes for years. The template makes notifying IT a mandatory step with a deadline.
What it connects to
Upstream is the employment relationship with all its access rights. Closely linked is user administration, which holds the same accounts. Where knowledge is at risk, handover follows.
Relation to standards
Documented revocation of access on exit is a core access control requirement. Anyone certified under ISO 27001 will be asked about it in the audit.
